  • John J. Brennan, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    John Brennan, MD, received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn after attending college at St. Louis University. He then performed a surgical internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan and followed with his orthopedic residency also at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. During training, he completed rotations at Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Delaware, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as well as The Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Brennan is board certified in orthopedic surgery and is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Medical Society of the State of New York, Suffolk County Medical Society and the Irish-American Orthopedic Society. He also has an extra board certification in sports medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Brennan merged his practice with St. Charles Orthopedics after being in practice in Southampton since 1999. Dr. Brennan’s practice focuses on complete care of the shoulder, hip and knee with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. His philosophy is to avoid surgery if at all possible but when it is necessary, utilize the fastest, easiest recovery possibly. These techniques include arthroscopic shoulder and knee repairs including rotator cuff and labral tears in the shoulder and meniscus and ACL tears in the knee. When hip and knee replacements are needed, he uses the latest cutting edge technology with small incision techniques.

  • Anthony Cappellino, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    Dr. Cappellino, a Long Island native, grew up in New Hyde Park, New York. He was the No.1 football player in Nassau County in 1983 receiving the Tom Thorpe Award. Dr. Cappellino attended Yale University and participated all four years in football. He was awarded the Chester J. Laroche scholar-athlete award. He obtained his medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook with honors where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in 1992. He received his orthopaedic residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital where he served as Chief resident in his final year. His post-graduate training led him to a fellowship in sports medicine at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles serving as assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Angels and the USC Trojan football team. Dr. Cappellino is actively involved in his community where you will see him on the sidelines taking care of multiple local High School football teams. Dr. Cappellino is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.   • Morgan N. Chen, MD

    Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery

    Dr. Morgan Chen is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of the spine. He utilizes the newest and most minimally invasive procedures to correct disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Chen is a recognized leader in the field of spine surgery and often serves as faculty on courses to teach the newest surgical techniques. He is consistently honored with the Patient’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award and is recognized as a Top 10 Doctor by Vitals. Dr. Chen graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Boston University. He received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.   • Dimitrios C. Christoforou, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    Dr. Christoforou graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from New York University in 2002 with a degree in history and biology. He subsequently earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine with honors where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in 2006. His post-graduate training included an internship in General Surgery at NYU Medical Center, followed by an orthopaedic surgical residency at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, where he received the Chief Resident Teaching award. During that time he also served as a staff physician at Madison Square Garden, and as an assistant team physician for high school and local college sports teams. He then completed a fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity and Microsurgery at Harvard Medical School, where he gained extensive experience, and served as a clinical instructor at the Massachusetts General and the Brigham and Women’s Hospitals in Boston. He has obtained further microsurgical training at Columbia University Medical Center’s Microsurgery Training and Research Laboratory. He has authored over 20 peer reviewed publications and chapters in orthopaedics and hand surgery. His research has been presented and awarded at multiple regional, national and international conferences. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Christoforou developed an extensive practice in the New York Hudson Valley before returning to Long Island in 2015. He specializes in the treatment of hand, wrist, forearm and elbow conditions. He offers cutting edge treatment options, both surgical and nonsurgical, for a multitude of ailments including fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease, arthritis, nerve, tendon and ligament injuries, and more.   • Danielle N. DeGiorgio, DO

    Sports Medicine Physician

    Danielle DeGiorgio, DO, is a non-operative sports medicine physician. She is a native of Long Island, graduating from Longwood High School as a three-sport athlete. She attended Stony Brook University on a full athletic scholarship and served as captain of the women’s basketball team. After obtaining her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. DeGiorgio completed an internship at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Stony Brook University Medical Center, serving as chief resident in her senior year. In addition, Dr. DeGiorgio completed training in structural acupuncture at Harvard Medical School. Following her residency, Dr. DeGiorgio went on to complete a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Christiana Care, serving as a Fellow team physician for the University of Delaware, Delaware State University, as well as for local high school teams. Dr. DeGiorgio is the Director of Regenerative Medicine and is an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation within the Stony Brook University School of Medicine.   • Lorenzo Gamez, MD

    Dr. Gamez received a BA in Psychology from Rutgers College and his medical education at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. He then went on to complete an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. His interests led him to pursue a fellowship in foot and ankle reconstruction at Union Memorial Hospital/Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Before joining St..Charles Orthopedics, Dr. Gamez served as an Assistant Professor and Co-director of Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery at UMASS Medical School. Dr. Gamez specializes in all aspects of foot and ankle care. He is a fellowship trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and provides the latest treatment options for all aspects of foot and ankle trauma, reconstruction and sports injuries. He is well versed in the latest technology including total ankle replacements, cartilage salvage techniques and ankle arthroscopy. Dr. Gamez has written several chapters and authored numerous studies presented at national and international meetings. He has been an invited speaker at several foot and ankle meetings.   • Mark J. Harary, MD

    Sports Medicine Doctor

    Dr. Harary earned his undergraduate degree in Movement Science from the University of Michigan in 1998. He went on to medical school at Ross University, where he graduated with honors in 2002. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Harary completed a family medicine residency at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He then completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Dr. Harary is board certified in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Harary is actively involved with the Arthritis Foundation. He has given numerous educational talks on arthritis and has served on the planning committee for the annual Arthritis Walk for several years, serving as the Walk Chair for the NYC Arthritis Walk in 2014. Dr. Harary specializes in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal problems in both pediatric and adult patients.   • Jeffrey D. Hart, DO

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    A native Long Islander, Jeffrey Hart, DO, graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University in 2004 and received his Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Maintaining his New York roots, Dr. Hart completed his orthopedic surgical residency at North Shore/LIJ Plainview Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. He completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee at The Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida. At St. Charles Orthopedics, Dr. Hart focuses on issues with hips, knees, and shoulders and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for his patients in a comprehensive and compassionate nature. He specializes in total hip replacements, partial and total knee replacements, and minimally invasive, muscle sparing techniques utilizing advanced computer and robotic-assisted surgery, including MAKOplasty Robotic partial knee replacement.   • Gregg J. Jarit, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    Dr. Jarit grew up in Wading River, NY and graduated from Shoreham-Wading River High School in 1994. He attended college at the University of Virginia and graduated With Distinction in 1998. He obtained his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2002, and then completed residency in orthopedic surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City in 2008. During his residency he completed an additional one-year research fellowship. He then returned to the University of Virginia to complete a fellowship in sports medicine. During his fellowship, he served as Assistant Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the University of Virginia and James Madison University. He also covered the UVA Club Ice Hockey team and high school football. Dr. Jarit is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the orthopedic care of athletes at all levels. He also performs general orthopedic surgical and nonsurgical fracture care. He has particular interest in the care of acute and chronic sports-related injuries, including conservative, arthroscopic, and minimally invasive surgical treatment. He has experience with the latest techniques in facilitating early return to play while maximizing the function and safety of the athlete.   • Christopher M. Mileto, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

    Dr. Mileto received his M.D. degree from New York Medical College in 2010, and then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Following his training in general orthopedics, he traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to complete a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Hedley Orthopedic Institute. Under Dr. Anthony Hedley, a preeminent leader in the field of joint replacement surgery, Dr. Mileto performed some of the most complex primary and revision hip and knee surgeries. In addition he utilizes cutting edge techniques such as muscle sparing surgery, custom implant cutting guides, and robotics. Dr. Mileto's practice focuses on complete care of the musculoskeletal system, with particular emphasis on those conditions that require joint replacement, or revision of a previous hip or knee replacement.   • Douglas Matthew Petraco, MD

    Dr. Petraco graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1988, after which he received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College graduating with academic honors. His post-graduate training included an internship at NYU Medical Center and an orthopedic surgery residency at The Hospital for Joint Diseases – Orthopaedic Institute, where he was chosen to serve as an executive chief resident in his final year. Dr. Petraco also completed a research fellowship in biomaterials and biomechanics at The Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Petraco specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. He prides himself on offering the latest advanced techniques in joint replacement surgery including mini-incision hip and knee replacement. As director of the Department of Orthopedics at St. Charles Hospital, Dr. Petraco was instrumental in bringing MAKOplasty® robotic partial knee resurfacing to the hospital. This minimally invasive approach, combined with a patient specific surgical plan allows more accurate implant placement resulting in a more natural feeling knee compared with total knee replacement. Patients are typically discharged home from the hospital the same day of surgery.

    Dr. Puopolo earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1997 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Duke University. He completed his internship in general surgery at New York University Medical Center and his orthopedic surgery residency at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan. He then completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has published and presented on numerous topics in orthopedics and hand surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Puopolo specializes in the treatment of hand, wrist and elbow problems. He offers extensive experience in both traumatic and degenerative conditions.   • Hayley Rintel Queller, MD

    Sports Medicine Physician

    Hayley Queller, MD was the first Primary Care Sports Medicine physician at St. Charles Orthopedics. In 2000, she completed an undergraduate degree in mathematics at Franklin & Marshall College where she was valedictorian of her class as well as a first team Academic All-American soccer player. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2004 after which she completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Christiana Care Health System in Delaware. She continued her training at Christiana Care by completing a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics with a certificate of added qualifications in Sports Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Queller specializes in the non-operative management of orthopedic issues in all ages. She has a keen interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation from non-operative conditions. She also has a particular interest in fracture care and concussion management. She serves as the Medical Co-Director of St. Charles Hospital’s ThinkSMART!™ Concussion Management Program and helps ensure the most up to date management of concussion in more than 42 school districts in Suffolk County. She has served as the team physician for Sachem East High School since 2009 as well as a medical consultant for the USTA covering the US Open Tennis Tournament since 2011.   • Michael J. Sileo, MD

    Director of Sports Medicine, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

    Dr. Sileo is a native of Garden City, Long Island and graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1998. He subsequently earned his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002. His post-graduate training included a surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was selected by the faculty to serve as administrative chief resident his final year. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he served as assistant team orthopedist to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter University. Dr. Sileo has published extensively on shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, complex knee ligamentous injuries, and achilles tears. He has presented his clinical research at both regional and national meetings. Dr. Sileo is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery for both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS). Dr. Sileo has a particular interest in the care of both the competitive and recreational athlete. He is actively involved in the community, and can frequently be found taking care of athletes on the sideline of several local football teams. He specializes in the arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatment of shoulder, hip, knee, and elbow injuries, but has extensive experience in most areas of both operative and non-operative orthopedics. Dr. Sileo is one of the few orthopaedic surgeons in the tri-state area who routinely performs hip arthroscopy for the minimally invasive treatment of hip labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement. Dr. Sileo's practice emphasizes both rehabilitation as well as training to prevent sports related injuries. His other areas of interest include the treatment of cartilage and meniscal injuries, shoulder arthroplasty, and fracture care.

  • Sathish J. Subbaiah, MS, MD

    Chief of Neurosurgical Spine Surgery

    Sathish J. Subbaiah, MD, MS, graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BS and MS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He earned his MD from Harvard Medical School with high honors. Dr. Subbaiah completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Harvard/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and subsequently completed a one year advanced fellowship in Endoscopic & Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery with Dr. Richard Fessler, a pioneer in this field who has treated athletes such as Peyton Manning and was the first surgeon to use human stem cells to surgically treat spinal cord injury patients. Dr. Subbaiah specializes in minimally invasive treatment of degenerative diseases of the spine including disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis (spinal instability), as well as complex neurosurgical spine disorders including scoliosis and spinal tumors. Dr. Subbaiah is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He has published numerous book chapters and research articles in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Subbaiah is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and performs surgery at St. Charles Hospital.
